Blog Stage 8

Today, I want to share my opinion about my colleague's article about our voting system in the USA. In America, we count not only vote for people but also electoral college vote. It is sometimes helpful to count the vote from electoral college, but mostly it is not. I firmly agree with my colleague's opinion about the voting system. He mentioned that  "Most of the time we do not know at all who these people are, or if we really can trust our decision, which again we should all give our vote by ourselves, and not by these representatives." It is true that the electoral college is an important structure for our nation, but as my colleague mentioned on his article that we mostly do not know about them, and it is important to the nation to see the importance of the popular vote. As everybody knows that our last primary vote was a great example. The rate of the popular vote for Clinton was higher than the Trump, but electoral college chose Trump, and he got elected. This is awful to some other country, because like in South Korea, we count only popular vote for the primary election. I think our government should develop our current voting system to make a better society.

Blog Stage 7

Today, I want to share my colleague's blog article that talks about unreasonable firing event that related to privatizing VA. My colleague Nick wrote the article that our current president Donald Trump is planning to replace the Secretary of Veterans Affairs, David Shulkin with Admiral Ronny L. Firing someone who worked for the country need to be taken seriously.
On the Donald Trump's twitter, he wrote that Shulkin was fired because he abused his authority to take his benefit. At first, I thought it would be serious amusement that can even result in firing the current Secretary of Veterans Affair, but it wasn't that serious as I thought. It was that Shulkin was on a business trip to Europe, and he spent the majority of his time sightseeing. Moreover, he also accepted Wimbledon tickets as a gift. It is true that Shulkin abused his power to take his own benefits, but it is not enough reason for the firing.
My colleague commented on his blog that the real reason for firing Shulkin was the president Donald Trump's intention to remove his opposition to the privatization of the VA. Also, he mentioned that the private healthcare sector already struggles with its attempts at providing for the general public, and privatizing the VA will only bloat the healthcare system more with the complex health care needs of veterans. I firmly agree with Nick's argument that he made. The Donald Trump's plan to privatizing VA would not bring positive effects to society. I also believe that the primary motivation behind the privatization of the VA is increased profits and even better healthcare for veterans

Blog Stage 6

Today, I want to discuss one of my colleague's  blog posts  "What can we do in the face of high school shootings?" Yidi is mentioning the horrible event happened in Florida about two weeks ago that shooting incident occurred at high school. This is not the event that we shouldn't ignore. We must pay attention to this problem. In America, it is legal to have the gun on their property. It is very hard to enforce a law to eliminate the gun owning. Therefore, we need the solution to right gun usage. My college Yidi mentioned about some questions to our government that is about how we take an effort to prevent shooting problem in America. First, he talked about that how teachers should take an effort about dealing with the gun problem. Yidi wants teachers to develop their way of teaching about gun usage to students. I firmly agree with my college's opinion. The main problem would come from lack of knowledge about shooting training. People need to change their perspective about this kind of problem. Not only students have to change and but also teachers should take an effort to develop the method of teaching about shooting training. Moreover, Yidi also mentioned about how can we keep gun properly. My college claiming that government should pay attention to this problem and come with a proper solution. I know it is hard to make the perfect solution to this kind of problem, but as my college's claim, I want our government to put more attention to shooting and gun property problem.

People who are interested in politics might hear about this current issue. Andrew McCabe who is a 21 year veteran of FBI and the former FBI director, and he got fired before he was set to retire and gain his pension. At first glance, it is ridiculous that firing McCabe just before the day of retirement who contributed one-third of his life to protect the country. This is all about politics. There are some theories that his fire was based on the end result of the Hillary Clinton e-mail investigation when McCabe was head of FBI. Our president posted some posts on his social network talking about that McCabe was waiting for his retirement to earn full benefits and do not work hard enough. The president Donald Trump is too much offensive toward McCabe in this situation.

There are also other theories that McCabe was fired was also along the lines of retaliation. McCabe' wife, Jill McCabe, ran for Senate in Virginia and had received about 700,000 dollars from Clinton's support of Jill McCabe's campaign. There are common issues with this event that both are related to Clinton.

There is no doubt for the reason for McCabe's firing, but why did they fire him just before the day of his retirement. I think it was intended by against political groups. There should be fair processing of firing in this case, not just telling him that he got fired before the day of retirement. This is not the way of treating the person who worked for the country for 21 years. Our president Donald Trump should think about this again.

“Trump claims to have most effective administration since Truman. It’s another huge lie.” Written by John Aravosis, and published in America Blog on 12/28/2017. In his article, Aravosis describes the statement that our president Donald Trump claimed during the CNN live broadcast.
On 12/27/2017, Donald Trump claimed that he has had most effective first-year of any president since Truman in the earlier record. The fact the author gave us is that Trump’s statement is totally false and he didn’t even win Truman. This article itself is actually making fun of Donald Trump’s single statement. We can see that author is a strong left side not even checking his other articles. Aravosis’s intended audience would be people who interested in politics especially left sides. Since this article is posted on the left side blog, we can assume that it would cause a problem if it is posted on the politically neutral site. This article could be offensive to right side people, but the author clearly catches the point of fact that Donald Trump’s statement at the CNN live was a non-fact based statement by showing the reader the chart of listing the number of the bill signed in each president’s first year. On the chart average bill signed in the first year is about 243, but Donald Trump only had only 96 bills signed in the first year, and Truman signed 250 bills. It is true that Trump's bill signed in the first year is lowest, but we can’t say president signed up the most bill in the first year is the best president. The president can contribute in other areas to develop the quality of society.
I think that the author of this article is only focused on making fun of the current president. Even though the chart clearly shows that Donald Trump’s statement is wrong, I can say that Aravosis is not trying to give the reader the information. The author is using many offensive words towards the current president and exaggerating another effect that causing by president’s statement in the official broadcast. I agree with some part of his argument in the article, but he should not giving us information with personal feeling toward someone on the article. Also, our current president should prepare and gather fact before he claims on the official meeting.

Blog Stage 3

Today, I want to discuss this article "Elections Have Become a Game for Billionaires" posted on New York Times. The author is claiming that election is all about money, and people who have more money wins the election, and her intended reader may be people who care about politics.
When I first read her article, I was kind of unsure about her argument since I was not that into politics. I thought that votes are from people who really vote for some representatives. However, the truth is that the win and loss of an election are almost made by money, not people who actually vote. The best example is 2017 election. Even though Hillary had more votes than Trump, the result was opposite. Donald Trump has the power of money that made him be president without people's vote. People may wonder how this can come true that money makes the president. This can be simply explained by income inequality. Top 1 percent in the U.S makes most of other 99 percent of the money that people actually make. Therefore, top 1 percent has about 25 percent of power among total  U.S Citizen has. If someone wants to be a president, he or she must close to some any billionaires since they have much more power than other normal citizens in the U.S. The author also mentioned that a quarter of money in the presidential race comes from the donation by billionaires. This gives us the fact that election is game played by billionaires. If there are any financial support form rich people, presidential race can't be processed. We can see that how money is important in an election.
In conclusion, I think author's overall idea of an election is mostly true. Rich people actually rule the society, and there is no way to control them or regulate them without any power or money. I believe that Inequality in America should be fixed in future to prevent this kind of situation.

This time I want to talk about this article "Government Shutdown Looms as Rand Paul Protests Budget Deal," published in Feb 8 2018. It is an article about the government shut down events from New York Times. People might not be aware of the term shut down. It is just meaning not working or in the computer system, it means stay off. Shut down term in government is the literary government not working since there is no proper budget planned to other organization. When the government shut down, then security by police, and firefighter, EMS, and other essential national services do not work. Therefore, it results in lots of problems due to lack of essential services. Moreover, more than 100 million government employees get fired, and other official testing centers are a force to shut down since there is no budget for them. This is creating critical economical damage not only in the U.S. and other nation. The research said that if U.S government stay in shut down for 2 weeks then U.S government's economic growth rate would decrease about 0.3 percent. Luckily, U.S. ended shut down in about 4 days after they shut down.

Many people would question the reason for shut down. The main reason for this shut down is by immigration law concern. The new president claiming that building walls and other strict immigration law to Hispanic should be enforced, but another political party is disagreeing with this concern. Therefore, they result in shut down. It is important to colleagues to read this article since it explains why the U.S is having a hard time due to unacceptable immigration law. I hope this problem would solve in a wise way.
